How Much Does a Metal Building Cost?
Metal building cost depends on many variables — which is exactly why a planning range is more honest than a single number. The major drivers are size, height, openings, engineering zone, concrete, insulation, and local site conditions.
Size & Height
Width matters more than length in steel buildings. A 50×50 ft structure requires heavier clear-span framing than a 30×80 ft building of the same square footage. Every foot of eave height adds material, structural load, and installation complexity.
Large Overhead Doors
A standard 9×7 ft roll-up door is a fraction of the cost of a 14×14 ft commercial roll-up. If your project includes large or multiple oversized doors, that alone can add substantially to your project total.
Location & Engineering
Your state and county determine engineering specifications. Coastal Florida and Texas Gulf Coast require hurricane-rated framing. Minnesota and Wisconsin need heavy snow load engineering. California requires seismic design. These all affect price — and they're why our calculator adjusts by state.
Concrete Slab
Many buyers are surprised that concrete is not included in the building package. A slab for a 30×40 ft garage is a significant additional cost before site preparation, footers, or grading. The calculator shows this as a separate line item.
Insulation
An uninsulated metal building will experience condensation in most climates. Insulation is a practical necessity for most uses. Spray foam costs more than fiberglass but outperforms it in extreme heat and moisture environments.

Building kit delivery depends on your distance from distribution points. Professional installation is typically included in Valhalla's pricing. Ask your project specialist what is included in your specific package.
